We experienced cooler temperatures this year for the 17th Annual 4th of July Firework show that was held in beautiful Benbow Valley.  As many former volunteers know, this annual event takes months of planning, organizing and fundraising within our community to happen.  I would like to say thank you and recognize those that helped make this year’s show a successful one!

Thank you to the following community members: Charles and Jan Benbow for graciously always allowing us to have a space to launch the fireworks year after year, John Porter and his staff at the Benbow KOA for the help with security and a great place to sit and watch the show up on the green,  Greg Hall with State Parks for opening up the recreational day use area and allowing the community to gather there and to the Chimney Tree for providing a variety of delicious lunch/dinner options for those spending the day at the park!

I would also like to give a shout out to the following departments for all their help and support: Garberville Fire, Redway Fire, Cal-Fire, Rio Dell Fire and the City Ambulance.  It takes courageous work from these volunteers and organizations to ensure that the community is safe during an event like this one.

Additionally I would like to say thank you to the following volunteers, Michelle & David Bushnell, Sophia Eckert and Thomas Norris that worked hard to set up or take down prior to and after the event, help with traffic control or take on other duties that were assigned!

Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank the following businesses and community members for their generous contributions that were made to help with the expenses of the show: Sherwood Forest Motel, Flow Kana, Humboldt Recology, People’s Real Estate of Humboldt, Green Diamond Resource Company, Mendes Mini Storage, Karen Miclette Insurance, Randy Cantua Insurance, The Trader, J.T. Dimmick Forest Co., Bea Anderson, Napa Auto Parts, SoHum Smoke Shop, The Cuttings, Southern Humboldt Community Park, Toni Genaro Insurance Services, Jim & Linda Brodersen, Drive-Thru Tree Park, Redway Liquors, Sylvandale Gardens Inc., Humane Society of the Redwoods, Humboldt House Inn, The Woodrose Café LLC, Dazey’s Inc., and the Southern Humboldt Lodging Alliance.

The people, organizations and businesses listed above are all very important key players that are necessary in being able to produce a safe and successful show!  We appreciate the support of our community members and are grateful for the beautiful area we all live in!

Thank you all for your hard work and effort, and to all that came out to enjoy the show!  We look forward to another great show next year!
