Department of Planning & Building to Host Short-Term Rental Ordinance
Southern Humboldt Community Meeting on Wednesday, August 9
The County of Humboldt’s Planning & Building Department has drafted a Short-Term Rental Ordinance and is seeking public input.
On Wednesday, August 9th at 5 p.m. at the Redwood Playhouse at 286 Sprowl Creek Rd, Garberville, County Planning & Building Department staff will host a community meeting regarding the revised draft Short-Term Rental Ordinance. The meeting will feature a presentation of the revisions made in response to the comments from the June 28 public meeting on the ordinance. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share concerns, ideas, and input. Some of the major revisions include short term rentals in rural areas and on larger properties and permitting requirements. The ordinance will be available for review by August 2, 2023 and is available on the County, Planning and Building website. The draft ordinance proposes a permitting process for rental of residential dwelling units for a period of 30 days or fewer, including homes listed on Airbnb and Vrbo. Those who operate these types of short-term rental units in unincorporated Humboldt County and all interested members of the public are encouraged to attend the public meeting.
