Random People Theatre Project Auditions
January 15 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pmFree
Casting call, Randomonium 2023 auditions are coming soon.
The local community theatre season begins this month with an open audition Sunday, January 15th, 2-5 pm at the Redwood Playhouse, 286 Sprowel Creek road in Garberville. Community members are invited to audition for a role in The Random People Theatre Project’s Spring production.
All that have an interest in acting on stage are encouraged to attend this casual and supportive event. You’ll be asked to read lines selected by the directors in front of attendees. This year seven short scripts have been selected for production. If you would like to become familiar with some of the roles to be filled, the scripts will be available for review on our website, randompeopletheatre.org and the Garberville Library.
Since 2006 the Random People Theatre Project has produced local community theatre, encouraging local writers and actors to share and develop theirs skills. Experience is not required to join in the fun, only a commitment to working with others to participate in our Spring show, 3 performances March 31- April 2, 2023
The project begins with writing workshops during the Summer, that culminates in script submission. Scripts are selected for production, directors are assigned in the Fall, followed by auditions and casting. Rehearsals are scheduled thru the Winter months, and in the Spring the show is performed for the community, with the added creative technical support of props, sound, light & scenic engineering.
The goal of the project is to discover, encourage & nurture the writing, acting and directing talents of community members, and from these talents and our growing experience, mount a professional production, empowering creative expression by sharing our skills with the community, our audience.
The original producers of the project Jenny Edwards & Susan Alexander brought together veteran and novice writers and actors to portray personal monologues. The project quickly expanded to include dialogues, and ensemble pieces, as stage craft and production values evolved the project has become a key component of our local theatre tradition.
The producers this year are Joshua Golden and Emily Totten.
