November 28, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Garberville Veterans Association would like to invite all members of our community to attend their free Thanksgiving Day meal, hosted by the Mateel Community Center in the main hall from 12pm-4pm on Thursday, November 28th. Food will be served at noon after a brief prayer.

Seniors who are in need of home delivered meals should coordinate with the Healy Senior Center.

Members from the business community and various angels from our neighborhoods typically share in the financial support for this endeavor. Checks or money orders can be mailed to the Turkey Fund c/o GVA at Box 133 Garberville 95542 or dropped off at the Credit Union Veterans Turkey Fund account # 1837 or hand delivered only to Amie McClellan, Tom Pietila or Brian Ormond. For further information, please call Amie McClellan at 707-223-3063 or Tom Pietila at 707-499-3931.

Baked goods as well as orchard and garden produce will be greatly appreciated and will be accepted Tuesday, Wednesday or Thanksgiving Day morning.

Those who want to help our infamous Chef Babette in the preparation of the meal to arrive at 10am Monday 11/25 or 2pm Tuesday & Wednesday 11/26 & 11/27 or at 10am or 8am on Thanksgiving day, please arrive prepared to work. Please bring your favorite apron and sharp knife if possible.

Other volunteers are needed to help with various setup tasks including table setting and decorating on Wednesday and we will need a cleanup crew on Friday at 10am end to return the building to its normal spick and span condition.

On Thanksgiving we’ll need people to help serve the meal, to play music, to eat food, to know why they are thankful and grateful and we’ll need several people throughout the day to help tidy up, do dishes.
