The Brass Rail Inn

Fire Dining, Lodging, and Cocktail Lounge

Fred Davis, Proprietor
3188 Redwood Dr.
P.O. Box 225
Redway, CA 95560

The Brass Rail Inn was built in 1922 as the home of two sisters. Shortly thereafter, they converted it into a Tea Room. In 1939, the business was sold to a San Franciscan, who then recreated the Tea Room and upstairs bedrooms into a very profitable though, highly risqué business: a Brothel. IN 1944, the business was sold and converted into a dinner house. Finally Jeanne Johnson purchased it in 1978.

The restaurant has beautiful redwood interiors, hand carved ceiling beams, and antiques built from the famous Old Growth Redwoods. In addition to this amazing décor, Jeanne inherited a “friendly ghost” who she nicknamed George. The spiritual being is said to be a bit of a prankster, and has been seen by some of our more enlightened customers.

In 1996, the Brass Rail Inn was passed down to Jeanne’s son, Fred Davis, who has carried on the tradition of this historical inn and world class restaurant. As your gracious host, he hopes you enjoy your stay here and wishes you bon appetite!

The Brass Rail Inn of today offers you the finest food, wine, and spirits in a cozy atmosphere nestled in the heart of Redwood Country.

The Kitchen boasts choice cuts of beef (our House Specialty is baby back ribs) and lamb, fresh locally caught seafood, along with poultry and pasta dishes. You will find daily specials, featuring such epicurean delights as Salmon served with an almond-black pepper crust.

There is a also a full service bar with an elegant wine list that denotes some of California’s most renowned vineyards.

To comlete your meal, you may enjoy freshly brewed coffee, tea, and an array of delectable deserts, as well as a wide varity of after dinner Brandies and Liqueurs.
